Guidance on reporting and monitoring of CO2 emissions for 2021 and 2022 published

Movement on the topic of national emissions trading: on 18 January 2021, the German Emissions Trading Authority(DEHSt) published a guideline for reporting and monitoring CO2 emissions for the years 2021 and 2022. The contents of the guide include the scope of application of SESTA and reporting for the years 2021 and 2022.

In addition, the guidance also includes a section on “avoiding double charging” of installations that are already subject to emissions trading under the European emissions trading scheme (EU ETS). In this context, the EU-ETS system operator must issue a confirmation to the distributor which contains, among other things, the quantity of the substance supplied and used as well as a declaration of intention to use the substance. Detailed information on the contents of the confirmation to be issued can be found in the guidelines (from p.37).
