In coordination with the German Federal Environment Agency<\/a> (<\/a> UBA)<\/a>, the European Energy Exchange<\/a> (<\/a> EEX<\/a> )<\/a> is extending the sales calendar for the national emissions trading system (“nEHS”)<\/a> to include additional dates in December 2021. The obligated companies under the nEHS thus have further opportunities to purchase national emission allowances (“nEHS allowances,” identified on the EEX with the abbreviation “nEZ”) at a price of \u20ac25 before the end of this year.<\/p>\n The additional sales dates for 2021 will be held on December 9, December 14, and December 16<\/strong>. The sale will take place in a time slot from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CET<\/strong> each day. The extension of the sales dates in 2021 takes into account, in particular, the fact that only a shortened period is available for covering with nEHS certificates in the first reporting year 2021.<\/p>\n In addition, EEX today also published the schedule for the sales dates in 2022<\/strong> in consultation with the UBA. These will be held twice a week throughout the year. nEZ purchases can be made on Tuesdays and Thursdays<\/strong>; the time slot will be open for six hours each as before, with the time period being brought forward to 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CET.<\/strong> Firstly, participants can purchase nEHS certificates for theyear<\/strong> 2022at a fixed price of 30 euros per nEHS<\/strong> certificate throughout theyear<\/strong> in the sales dates in2022<\/strong>. Secondly, between January and September 2022, subsequent purchases of nEHS certificates for the year2021 are also possible to a limited extent at the corresponding fixed price of 25 euros per certificate.<\/p>\n However, the possibility of subsequent purchase is limited by law to 10 percent of the quantity already purchased by the respective participant in 2021 (\u00a7 10 para. 2 p. 3 Fuel Emissions Trading Act (BEHG)).<\/a>. The reference point in this context is, according to \u00a7 6 para. 2 Fuel Emissions Trading Ordinance (FETO) the amount of nEHS allowances a responsible party holds in its compliance account at the end of the calendar year (here: December 31, 2021).<\/p>\n nEHS allowances due in 2021 are only surrenderable for the 2021 reporting year, with companies required to meet their surrender obligation by September 30, 2022.<\/p>\n The last date of sale with the possibility of subsequent purchase is 22.09.2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n nEHS certificates maturing in 2022 can also be surrendered for the 2021 reporting year.<\/p>\n If you have any further questions about national emissions trading, please do not hesitate to contact us<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Three more nEHS sale dates available in December 2021 and calendar for 2022.
